    A wide range of activities can be enjoyed within close vicinity of the Mas:

  • Beaching and swimming (sea within 30 minutes drive)
  • Hiking and biking in the Alpilles Hills
  • A golf course at Les Baux-de-Provence (10 min drive)
  • Horse riding
  • Bird watching in Camargue and exploring the country
  • Pleasures of senses

    Provence is very famous for its gastronomic pleasures, its colourful markets with their fresh products and local crafts, all awaiting discovery.

    Also several local farms of olives, wine and perfumes offer daily session of sampling and tasting. Throughout summer, village fairs give the opportunity to share the local traditions.

    Cultural visits and main events

    Arles
    Several impressive Roman monuments (arena, Roman theatre, baths of Constantine, cryptoporticus, necropolis of Alyscamps) and Provence’s Romanesque works (cathedral of Saint-Trophime, with its cloister), All have been classified World Heritage by the UNESCO.
    The museum of Antique Arles exhibits major archeological collections, amongst which César'bust recently discovered in the Rhône.

    Arles is known for being the adopted home of the early impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The sites that he painted and frequented, such as the ‘Night Café’ and the ‘Hospital of Arles’ have been well preserved.

    Arles also hosts the International Photo Festival all through the summer months (details on www.rencontres-arles.com).

    'Les Suds' is a festival of world musics which offers more than 50 concerts throughout the city (details on www.suds-arles.com).

    Arles features at least two major Ferias per year. Although bull-fighting may not be for all, there is something for all in the festivities, music and cuisine that accompanies the occasion. Arles, also holds an antique market first Wednesday of each month.

    Around Arles

    • Aix en Provence is less than fifty kilometres away. This ‘City of Fountains’ is the home town of the famous painter Cézanne. The city has a sophisticated ‘old town’ centre and every summer hosts an international classical music and opera festival (see www.festival-aix.com).
    • Avignon and its Papal Palace hosts the world renowned Theatre Festival each year (see www.festival-avignon.com).
    • The famous Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard, is located close by and offers ideal picnic locations complete with swimming and canoeing facilities.
